and how far down the stem ........ my bush is 2 foot high and about 6 flowers on it..
Rose bushes.. do i have to keep cutting my flower off so it will produce more roses?
Yes, cut them off as they start to die. It will keep producing more flowers. I have a bush that flowers all summer by keeping it trimmed.
Look at the stem and go to the next junction where a leaf or small stem jutts off from the main stem. Cut a half inch above that next %26quot;junction%26quot;. Be careful when you cut that you don%26#039;t %26quot;pinch%26quot; it off. You want that to be a nice clean open cut so new growth will start. A good sharp gardeners shears works well, although I simply use an old steak/bread knife (serrated edge) and that works well for me. I hold the deadening flower in one hand and make a quick slice the half inch above the next %26quot;branch%26quot; with the other.
It may be all in my head, but it seems I get more new growth using a serrated edge knife than a snippers... I%26#039;m assuming because it%26#039;s a more open cut and hasn%26#039;t been stunted by being squeezed. ??? I don%26#039;t know the scientifics of it, but it works best for me.
Good luck!
Reply:Its called dead heading just cut the old blooms off. And it depends on your area and what type of rose it is.Some roses bloom once per season. Some will get a 2nd flush but smaller then the first time.Fertilizing will also help.
Reply:No, I do but it isn%26#039;t necessary for the plant to produce. But, I do suggest if there are more than one bud on a stem to break a few off, this gives a larger rose on the top. Only one flower (or suckers) will grow and bloom on one stem. I have long stemmed roses, therefore I clip the suckers off to give a larger rose to bring in the house.
Reply:Yes, keep your rose bushes pretty by removing spent blooms, but you don%26#039;t have to cut them off...all you have to do is follow the stem of the bloom down the stalk until you come to where the joint is. The bloom stalk should just break off cleanly at the joint using only your fingers. The only time I use clippers is when I am trimming the actual bush back to promote stalk growth. My rose bushes are covered in blooms and it%26#039;s a no muss, no fuss system.
Reply:yes you should. by taking the dying flowers off the plant will be encouraged to put off new buds. with the old flowers left on the plant focuses on trying to keep that portion of the plant alive, if you remove it, then it can focus on growing and producing new flowers
Reply:You will keep getting roses if you do not cut the flowers off but the plant will eventually quit blooming until the next season.
If you keep your dead or old roses clipped off (about 12%26quot;) then you will extend your blooming season and have better quality roses.flower

The name of a movie about a guy who works in a flower shop and brings flowers to his reluctant lady every day
I think an apartment rooftop was involved and the guy either was John Cusak or reminded me of him--I think it was made within the past ten years. I think the girl rebuffed the guy but he just kept bringing her flowers

Would a flower be lonely if nothing was there to look at it?
no it still will get plenty of visitors who will come for the honey
bees and colibris
for example
the flower is there for natural reasons to atract insects
that people like it is incidental
Would a flower be lonely if nothing was there to look at it?
yes

Reply:Butterflies and bees keep it healthy (also humming birds). So.... yeah, I guess!
Reply:Hell no. Flowers got it figured out. A flower merely existing is proof that is has everything it needs: soil and sunlight. Admiration by humans may or may not be a favorable passtime for flowers, but they can certainly achieve happiness without us.

On top of what patricia said.....when the flowers come out..within 2 to 4 days you will have small one inch squash on them..pick the whole thing bloom intact...spread the flower, still attached...stuff it with cream cheese..then batter , again as Patricia said, and deep fry the whole thing in very hot oil..only takes 3 or 4 minutes..

morning glories will take a little over a month to bloom. start now so in early july they will be anice size for outside. also you may want to consider a moon vine which is a reletive to morning glories only very fragrant and will come back up in southern noth carolina. the pink moon vine is also a cold hardy relatinve of morning glories.
here is a photo of nasturtiums
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showima...
it doesnt gorw like a mornig glory because it is not a vine, but a ground cover. this is an annual in yor state.
yes your foxgloves will flower in time for summer. in colder climates they dont come up till june and flower by july so yours may be in flower by late may.
purple coneflowers as well as zinnias take about a month or so to bloom so it may not be until early or mid june before they are mature enough to go outside
your zone is a zone 8a if in southern north carolina and a zone 7b in northern or mid north carolina.
zone 8a has many plants such as medditeranean fan palms, cannas, moon vines, pink moon vines, pindo palms, clematis, hydraneas, dusty millers and lots lots more.
zone 7b is also a good planting zone. you can grow cannas, pink moon vines, hydraneas, windmill palms, mazari palms, needle palms, vincas, clematis, roses, cherrys and also lots more.
good luck
Reply:All plants started from seed take a month or so before they have blooms. You will have green plants, but the blooms will take a longer time. But it is worth it. Be sure to keep your new planted seeds moist. Touch the ground each morning to make sure it has not dried out. As the plants get taller with about two or three sets of leaves, you do not have to keep the soil moist each day, but don%26#039;t let them dry out.
Next year, plant nursery shop %26quot;bedding%26quot; plants. These will be about 4%26quot;, 6%26quot;, 8%26quot;, or taller and will bloom sooner for you.
You are gonna love gardening, don%26#039;t try to do it all in one year. Get to know where the sun shines the most, and where the shaded areas are. Because you will need flowers for the sun areas, and flowers for the shaded areas.
Since you are a beginner, this year start your garden with plants that you get from a garden center or nursery. They are called bedding plants and come in a six pack. Look for a little tag sticking in the six pact showing directions on how to grow the plants. If the tag is not there, ask for one or buy something else. Directions are VERY important.
Seeds are not always easy to grow. And wildflowers are the hardest so don%26#039;t be disappointed if they don%26#039;t show up.
Two good things to do for yourself is to call your local County Extension Service and ask for all the information that they have about gardening in your area. They usually have a packet/kit of things for the home gardener.
And number two would be to pick up a couple of beginner books. You really do need to know about soil, compost, mulch and etc.
To keep from over watering or not watering enough, buy a water analyzer from a nursery or garden center. Be sure to read the directions. This will be one of your best tools.
Send for some free gardening catalogs and get use to the different types of plants, colors, and when to plant. They are filled with good informtion and pictures. And they will keep you company during the long winter months. Here is a list of just a very few. There are hundreds more:

Hun, we all go through the hurt from breaking up with a relationship, but getting back at him isn%26#039;t the answer. Hippeastrum is a genus of about 70–75 species and 600+ hybrids and cultivars of bulbous plants in the family Amaryllidaceae, native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas from Argentina north to Mexico and the Caribbean.
Some species are grown for their large showy flowers.
These plants are popularly but erroneously (WRONGLY)known as Amaryllis, an African genus in the same family.

Anyone find flower essences effective on pets or people?
Very effective for animals, my holistic vet gives them out to all her patients. Ive had my dog on rescue remedy, ive also made my own combos for him and had him on the Australian bush flower essences. It helped with his seperation anxiety when he was a pup. I made him one with white chestnut and some others to give him whilst I was at work and he was inside and he never destroyed anything ( when he was a pup). If Im doing any long car trips i give him a few drops of rescue remedy every 15 minutes for four doses, myself as well and it does wonders.
I also use rescue remedy when I repot my plants to help them with the adjustment. Just a bit of trivia for you!!!
Anyone find flower essences effective on pets or people?
I have used flower essences with my cats for many years and recommend them a lot to other pet owners.
Every pet owner should have a bottle of Rescue Remedy in their medicine cabinet. It is the premier first-aid remedy to help with a pet who has been traumatized by injury or sudden illness. Naturally it should be used ON THE WAY TO THE VET.
It is very helpful when a cat or dog returns home after surgery - great if you can put it on them when a pet is hospitalized.
I always put it on my cats when they have to go into their carrier for a vet trip. And one of my vets always uses his own combinations of flower essences when he removes my cats from their carrier for examination or treatment.
There are 38 Bach flower essences (Rescue Remedy is a combination of five Bach essences) which can be used singly for specific emotional issues and the Flower Essence Society has many more of the North American flower essences.
Reply:I think more effective to people. My dog only cares for his food.makeup tips

Homeopathic and flower remedys, which one?
Im in the process of trying to move forward with my life and forget the past, which remedy will help to keep me going, soothe any anxiety, keep me positive etc
Also looking for one for hyperactivity too.
Homeopathic and flower remedys, which one?
The components of Rescue Remedy include the five that cover (1) loss of self-control, (2) faintness (3) agitation or irritability (4) terror and panic and (5) shock. So it is excellent to use in a relatively short-term emergency situtaion. Walnut is the Bach essence used for acceptance of change in life, Wild Rose for the will to live etc. There are 66 or more Australian Bush essences to choose from. I have a book with over 330 ABE%26#039;s to choose from for various conditions (some physical, some emotional).
There are people who work with flower essences in treating people professionally and, as with homeopathy, the best %26quot;remedy%26quot; for your particular, individual situation should be arrived at with consultation to find the one that will best work for you and cover all aspects of your psyche that should be treated.
Reply:Would you not use Rescue Remedy for that if you were into such things?yahoo finance

Is a flower a cell, a tissue, a organ, a system or a body?
A flower is a reproductive organ. This organ and the things that happen afterwards of fertilization ( like seed production or fruit development ) constitute the reproductive system of the plant.

Is hibiscus flower's juice good for heart?
Mmmmm Agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus Water)
I have grown up drinking this. My mother In law was recently diagnosed with Diabetes type 2 soo I looked on line for some diabetic recipes.
On there appeared beverages and hibiscus water was on there. You can go to this site to view it http://www.diabetic-recipes.com/recipes/...
If you see the recipe says to add cinnamon and this promotes lower sugar in the blood stream.
You can serve hibiscus as a tea or chilled.
I grew up drinking it chilled and I think you will enjoy it for the spring/summer
Is hibiscus flower%26#039;s juice good for heart?
The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture has published research findings from Chung Shan Medical University in Taiwan that show hibiscus flowers—like red wine and tea—contain heart-cleansing antioxidants. Called jamaica in these parts, hibiscus has long been a favored herbal remedy for high blood pressure. Odd how the cures that people who can’t afford pills have used for centuries only become credible when they’re good for lab rats.skin disease

What local flower can be used to fight candidiasis?
help me
What local flower can be used to fight candidiasis?
Candida yeasts are usually present in most people, but uncontrolled multiplication resulting in disease symptoms is kept in check by other naturally occurring microorganisms, e.g., bacteria co-existing with the yeasts in the same locations, and by the human immune system.
Carriers experienced few or no symptoms. However, external use of irritants (such as some detergents or douches) or internal disturbances (hormonal or physiological) can perturb the normal flora, constituting lactic acid bacteria, such as lactobacilli, and an overgrowth of yeast can result in noticeable symptoms.Pregnancy, the use of oral contraceptives, engaging in vaginal sex immediately and without cleansing after anal sex and using lubricants containing glycerin have been found to be causally related to yeast infections. Diabetes mellitus and the use of antibiotics are also linked to an increased incidence of yeast infections.[citation needed] Diet has been found to be the cause in some animals. Hormone Replacement Therapy and infertility treatments may also be predisposing factors.
I think garlic has been used to treat yeast infection. You need to google it.super nanny

How can I stop squirrels from digging in my flower pots?
I have a large deck on my 3rd floor apartment (accessible by stairs and a large tree that hangs over from the neighbors yard) and I have a problem with squirrels digging up the roots of my herbs, flowers and vegetable plants. I have tried sprinkling the soil with chili peppers and flakes but that does not deter them.
We have a dog and a cat (indoor) who travel on the deck frequently so nothing toxic to them or to humans as I eat the herbs and veggies that I am able to grow!
Thanks!
How can I stop squirrels from digging in my flower pots?
Blend 40 fresh chilli peppers in 1 L of water. Add 5 g of pure soap flakes to the blended chilli mixture. Apply as required undiluted.
Reply:The best way to deter them may be to put out a seed mix that will keep them occupied; most places that sell wild bird feed will also sell a %26quot;squirrel and jay%26quot; mix made of nuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, etc. It can be worth it to keep squirrels out of your flowers :-)
You might also try putting predator-scent in the area; I use bobcat-urine spray in storage areas to dissuade mice and chipmunks from hanging around. You can get it at most places that sell hunting supplies (hunters use it to ATTRACT bobcats). It smells REALLY rank at first, so be ready to leave immediately after spraying it. After it dries, you won%26#039;t be able to smell it, but your little unwelcome visitors will.
Good luck :-)
Reply:Place large rocks heavy enough to keep the squirrels from pushing to easily around the pot if their is room.
If they are eating your herbs that is what their after. Tie old screens together around each plant.
Another suggestion is to purchase a live trap at your local feed store. Bait the trap with peanut butter on bread. Check with your local extension service for disposal. It%26#039;s not always legal to just take them out to the woods and let them go.
Also a noisy clapper style water feature works sometimes.
Or try a motion detector attached to a sprinkler available at hardware stores.
We have battled squirrels for years and the live trap works the best.
Good Luck
Reply:They hate dog hair. Save it from the dog brush or have a local groomer save a bag when they clip dogs. Spread the hair on top of the soil and the squirrels should avoid your plants. I try to be nice to the squirrels even though they are rodents and put some food out for them (well away from my plants) for a few days until they have adjusted to NOT going near my plants.
Reply:get some of that finely ground caspian pepper and sprinkle it around the pots when the dirt is dry on top. Once squirrely gets a noseful of that he will stay away. You can add it to wild bird food too. Does not affect birds at all.
Reply:You could try cutting up Habanero peppers (damn, they are HOT).http://phoenix.about.com/od/foodanddrink... We get them at Safeway. When cutting them up wear rubber gloves and a paint mask. You could try Chinese hot oil, It%26#039;s quite hot, but not as hot as the habaneros.
Reply:Wrap it in chicken wire.
Answers here with peppers and whatnot are funny !!! Dog hair ? LOL Chili flakes ????? Rocks ??? You people crack me up....................

Do the flower girl and ring bearer keep the pillow and basket, or do I???
It depends on how you feel. I%26#039;m giving my flower girls and ringbearer gifts so I may or may not give them their basket or pillow. I think it depends also on how much you care about the basket and such. I haven%26#039;t really decided on what I want to do yet.
If you want to keep them, give them gifts at least so they feel like they were an important part in your wedding.
Do the flower girl and ring bearer keep the pillow and basket, or do I???
Giving the flowergirl the basket might be a nice gesture. But I dont know why a little boy would want to keep a frilly satin pillow anyways. They will probably give that back to you. ;)
Reply:It%26#039;s up to you, but usually the bride and groom do.
Reply:Usually the flower girl keeps the basket, but you would keep the pillow - the ring bearer has no use for it, it%26#039;s a memento for you.
Reply:If you bought them then do whatever you want, but I will tell you it comes a point after the wedding where you run out of stuff to put all the momentos from the day and you might consider letting them enjoy it....I thought I had to keep everything and now its all in a box in a closet...doing me a lot of good huh? :)
Reply:I think they do, just as a courtesy and a way of thanking them for participating in the wedding.
Reply:I am leaving my flowergirl keep her basket, I am not having a ringbearer, but what do you plan on doing w/ them if you keep them?
Reply:it%26#039;s up to you. I would think they woldnt have much use for them. I want my pillow after because my mother in law made it for me....
Reply:I would think it could go either way. You could let them have as a remembrance of your day (at least the flower basket). Or keep them your self and put them up or display them. It all depends on what you want to do.
Reply:you keep it because you are the one getting married usually you have someone get it from them after the wedding
Reply:The bride keeps it, they keep theor boquets, there dress and shoes, the rest you keep.
Reply:you keep it as a rememberence of your day.
Reply:In every wedding I have experienced they do, including my own.
Reply:When I was a flower girl (20 some odd years ago) I was given my flower basket to keep as a memento. I still have it. When I was married, I gave my ring bearers Mom the ring pillow to hang onto for him as a memento.performing arts

Call your local florist shop, they should know. Maybe, you could even get a job there and learn.

Many large communities offer %26quot;adult education%26quot; classes that are craft oriented. Keep an eye on the %26quot;community news%26quot; section of your local newspaper. They will usually have a section on educational opportunities in your area.
Senior citizen centers also offer many kinds of classes.

Is the flower that grows in an adverse environment, the rarest and the most beautiful of all?
Interpret this any way you want.
Is the flower that grows in an adverse environment, the rarest and the most beautiful of all?
Yes, I believe that it is. In a desolate landscape, such a vibrant sign of life would be most welcomed. Assuming this is a lone flower, this would be the most beautiful, since there is no other to compare it with.
Reply:I saw the actual flower! I was on the interstate on an overpass, and there was a great big sunflower growing out of a crack in the concrete! And we don%26#039;t have that many sunflowers around here. It was indeed beautiful because it was so unexpected. The next day it was on the local news. The day after the newscast it was gone, but I felt privileged to have seen it.
It is indeed rare that something beautiful grows in an adverse environment. It should be nourished and protected.

What is flower tea?can i know more detail?
Flower Teas are teas processed or brewed with flowers; typically, each flower goes with a specific category of tea, such as green or red tea. The most famous flower tea is jasmine tea ( aka: Heung PÃn i Cantonese, Hua Chá, simply flower tea, in Mandarin), a green or oolong tea scented (or brewed) with jasmine flowers. Rose, lotus, lychee, and chrysanthemum are also popular flowers. There is also honeysuckle, passion fruit, dragonfruit, etc.
It is just a different type of tea - some are made from herbs etc and these are made from flowers. :o)
there are types - like passion flower, chinese flower, etc

Advertized o TV a "carpet" carrying flower seeds: just lay out on and add water. Flowers grow..?
It%26#039;s the same thing as sod, or %26quot;carpet%26quot; grass, yeah it works, but I wouldn%26#039;t get it... You don%26#039;t get much quality at all with these %26quot;easy to do, make your life easy%26quot; products, really all your doing is sacrificing quality for luxury. I wish you well!
Advertized o TV a %26quot;carpet%26quot; carrying flower seeds: just lay out on and add water. Flowers grow..?
Waste of money and time! Go to your local Garden Center and tell them about what you want and they will recommend something. Don%26#039;t go to a mega-store like Home Depot or Loews the employees usually are not garden savvy!
Reply:I did that once. It was a pretty neat array of flowers. They bloomed all summer. Just keep it watered. You still have to de-weed the ground before laying your seed carpet down. Weeding during the season is less than normal. If you have limited time or an aversion to actually digging in and handling dirt, then I%26#039;d say it%26#039;s worth a try.

A rectangular flower garden, 7m by 6m is surrounded by a grass strip of uniform width.?
of uniform width. if the total area of the garden and the grass strip is 90m^2, what is the width of the strip?
include a diagram, if possible
A rectangular flower garden, 7m by 6m is surrounded by a grass strip of uniform width.?
Area of flower garden 7 x 6m = 42sm
total area of both = 90sm
area of grass = 48sm
if %26#039;w%26#039; is width of the strip then the area can be written in terms of length and width around the flower garden:
each long side, 2 of : (w + 7 +w) x w (the w%26#039;s with the 7 is for the corners), plus
each short side, 2 of: 6 x w (don%26#039;t count the corners again)
grass = 2 x (7w + 2w^2+ 6w) = 48sm
4w^2 + 26w =48 turn into quadratic
4w ^2+ 26w - 48 =0
w= (-26 +/- sqroot (26^2 -4x4x-48))/2x4
w= (-26 +/- sqroot (676+768)/8
w= (-26 +/- 38)/8
either w=(-64/8) = -8m (negative solution)
or w=(12/8) = 1.5m wide correct solution for the problem
Reply:Let width of strip be x m
length of garden + strip = 7 + 2x
breadth of garden + strip = 6 + 2x
(7 + 2x).(6 + 2x) = 90
42 + 26x + 4x² = 0
4x² + 26x - 48 = 0
2x² + 13x - 24 = 0
(2x - 3).(x + 8) = 0
Accept +ve value of x = 1.5
Width of strip is 1.5 m
Reply:3 meters
7+3 = 10
6 + 3 = 9
9x10 = 90 m^2
Reply:Some number x has to be added to the width and the length to increase the area to 90. The equation for that is:
(7+x) * (6+x) = 90
42 + 6x + 7x + x^2 = 90
x^2 +13x - 48 = 0
(x - 3)(x + 16) = 0
x = 3 or -16 (but -16 can%26#039;t be a size, so 3 is the only possible answer)
BUT, 3m is what is added in each direction, so you need half of that size on each side. The width of the strip is 1.5m.
Reply:Let the width of the strip be x metres.
Then the increased width is 6 + 2x metres, and the increased length is 7 + 2x metres.
The new area is (7 + 2x)(6 + 2x) m^2.
Therefore:
(7 + 2x)(6 + 2x) = 90
42 + 26x + 4x^2 - 90 = 0
4x^2 + 26x - 48 = 0
2(x^2 + 13x - 24) = 0
2(2x - 3)(x + 8) = 0
x = -8 or 3/2.
Discarding the negative root, the width of the strip is 1.5m.hairstyles hair style

How many flower a bee has to visit to make one sponful of honey?
on one site I found that it takes about 10 million flowers for bees to make a liter of honey. On another site I found that there are 67.62788 tablespoons in one liter... so one can concluse that it would take about 147,868 flowers to make a tablespoon of honey.Soles

How can I deter squirrels from digging up my flower pots?
I%26#039;d rather not attract more squirrels to my yard by placing squirrel food nearby. I have a dog that would probably end up catching one. Unfortunately, no. That would be great though, I%26#039;d keep mine blooming all season if I could!

What ''MEMORY'' flower would you rather be. A FORGET-ME-NOT or an ORCHID?
An Orchid. It%26#039;s beautifully unique and that describes me perfectly.
What %26#039;%26#039;MEMORY%26#039;%26#039; flower would you rather be. A FORGET-ME-NOT or an ORCHID?
How about a poppy, lest we forget...
Reply:What, not a poppy, flower of forgetfulness? I think a forget-me-not is pretty, and because it isn%26#039;t rare like an orchid, might get away with not being picked, so I%26#039;ll go with that one for survival.books authors

Do roses flower in November?
Yep, they sure will. I live in the Midwest, and my tea roses start blooming in the spring and continue to bloom until a heavy frost. Last year that wasn%26#039;t until after Thanksgiving. Make sure you dead head all spent blooms on a regular basis to help them develop new buds.
Do roses flower in November?
they do in california. in january you%26#039;re supposed to prune your roses.
Reply:If you have a warm November, yes. I live in Delaware, USA, and have had a warm spell in October - November. My potted tearose at my front door continued to bloom well into early December. Weird but beautiful -- or vice versa!!
Reply:You can plant a rose bush in november, and it will begin to grow. You wont see any blooms until the following year though.
Reply:as most have said it depends on where you life
try this site it might help
Reply:Yes of course they do. The question is what environment are you trying to grow them in. Are you in the cold north, or warm south. Roses like warmth, but not extreme hot. Roses are temperamental, and require some attention to bloom. Try Rosetone (fertilizer for roses) and follow the instructions. Be sure to clip off all old blossoms, or new ones will not develop.

Reply:Sunflower seeds are great for you! Like any other oily food, they can be high in calories if you eat a LOT of them, but they%26#039;re so little that%26#039;s really not an issue.
I%26#039;d be sure to get mine as fresh as possible, say at a health food store. The ones in convenience stores could be old and get rancid. Other than that, eat %26#039;em up!visual arts

Reply:The blooming of the desert is always a moving sight. One small rain and the bleak desert blossoms with life. Frogs come out of hibernation and quickly mate in ephemeral ponds, flowers dash up overnight to create new seed for the next generation. Life continues and perseveres.

Reply:I think so. Both in the physical world and in the experience of life. In the most barren places to find even a small hint of beauty, a ray of sunshine like that is a blessing. It gives you the needed boost to perservere through tough circumstances. Its an image of hope, a promise that you can get through this. So yeah, if I found a flower in an adverse environment I would definately find it more beautiful than something grown in a hot house.
Reply:If you like dandelions, sure. Out of pure concrete, there they are. Rare and most beautiful? I would keep that opinion to your self. On the other hand, the word %26#039;adverse%26#039; is ambiguous. In the Latin syllabus, it breaks down to %26#039;ad ver se%26#039; or in English %26#039;it look know%26#039;.
Reply:No maybe not the rarest or the most beautiful but certainly the toughest and most resilient. Actually I think the rarest flower is that ugly corpse flower. Pax - C
Reply:It is proud and strong and shows it%26#039;s beauty through adversity. It is rarely seen, but it is still there for those who take the time.
Peace and Serenity does exist. It is not rare, just not seen.
