Rose bushes.. do i have to keep cutting my flower off so it will produce more roses?

and how far down the stem ........ my bush is 2 foot high and about 6 flowers on it..
Rose bushes.. do i have to keep cutting my flower off so it will produce more roses?
Yes, cut them off as they start to die. It will keep producing more flowers. I have a bush that flowers all summer by keeping it trimmed.

Look at the stem and go to the next junction where a leaf or small stem jutts off from the main stem. Cut a half inch above that next %26quot;junction%26quot;. Be careful when you cut that you don%26#039;t %26quot;pinch%26quot; it off. You want that to be a nice clean open cut so new growth will start. A good sharp gardeners shears works well, although I simply use an old steak/bread knife (serrated edge) and that works well for me. I hold the deadening flower in one hand and make a quick slice the half inch above the next %26quot;branch%26quot; with the other.

It may be all in my head, but it seems I get more new growth using a serrated edge knife than a snippers... I%26#039;m assuming because it%26#039;s a more open cut and hasn%26#039;t been stunted by being squeezed. ??? I don%26#039;t know the scientifics of it, but it works best for me.

Good luck!
Reply:Its called dead heading just cut the old blooms off. And it depends on your area and what type of rose it is.Some roses bloom once per season. Some will get a 2nd flush but smaller then the first time.Fertilizing will also help.
Reply:No, I do but it isn%26#039;t necessary for the plant to produce. But, I do suggest if there are more than one bud on a stem to break a few off, this gives a larger rose on the top. Only one flower (or suckers) will grow and bloom on one stem. I have long stemmed roses, therefore I clip the suckers off to give a larger rose to bring in the house.
Reply:Yes, keep your rose bushes pretty by removing spent blooms, but you don%26#039;t have to cut them off...all you have to do is follow the stem of the bloom down the stalk until you come to where the joint is. The bloom stalk should just break off cleanly at the joint using only your fingers. The only time I use clippers is when I am trimming the actual bush back to promote stalk growth. My rose bushes are covered in blooms and it%26#039;s a no muss, no fuss system.
Reply:yes you should. by taking the dying flowers off the plant will be encouraged to put off new buds. with the old flowers left on the plant focuses on trying to keep that portion of the plant alive, if you remove it, then it can focus on growing and producing new flowers
Reply:You will keep getting roses if you do not cut the flowers off but the plant will eventually quit blooming until the next season.

If you keep your dead or old roses clipped off (about 12%26quot;) then you will extend your blooming season and have better quality roses.flower

The name of a movie about a guy who works in a flower shop and brings flowers to his reluctant lady every day

I think an apartment rooftop was involved and the guy either was John Cusak or reminded me of him--I think it was made within the past ten years. I think the girl rebuffed the guy but he just kept bringing her flowers

Would a flower be lonely if nothing was there to look at it?

no it still will get plenty of visitors who will come for the honey

bees and colibris

for example

the flower is there for natural reasons to atract insects

that people like it is incidental
Would a flower be lonely if nothing was there to look at it?
yes
Reply:My daffodils were just telling me how they hate it when people ignore them...
Reply:Butterflies and bees keep it healthy (also humming birds). So.... yeah, I guess!
Reply:Hell no. Flowers got it figured out. A flower merely existing is proof that is has everything it needs: soil and sunlight. Admiration by humans may or may not be a favorable passtime for flowers, but they can certainly achieve happiness without us.
Reply:Not lonely, but solitary.
Reply:Nope....it could care less. All it needs to be

healthy and happy is sunshine and rain.
Reply:To experience emotions, it would need a brain %26amp; central nervous system.

Since plants don%26#039;t have those, I%26#039;d lean toward the %26quot;No%26quot; side.....

Fryed Zuiccnhi flower? Any good?

On top of what patricia said.....when the flowers come out..within 2 to 4 days you will have small one inch squash on them..pick the whole thing bloom intact...spread the flower, still attached...stuff it with cream cheese..then batter , again as Patricia said, and deep fry the whole thing in very hot oil..only takes 3 or 4 minutes..
Fryed Zuiccnhi flower? Any good?
